Guy has 3 styles of banjo playing that he teaches; clawhammer (old timey, also known as frailing), Pete Seeger style which is pick/strum and also the three finger bluegrass style. His guitar styles is also not just limited to one. Guy enjoys blues, finger picking, rock and roll and of course bluegrass. In his spare time you might catch him cruising on his Harley-Davidson or playing at local jam sessions. Always eager to share his love of music, teaching is just an extension of what he loves. |

Walt grew up in a musically oriented family which led him to start singing and playing at the age of twelve. The family enjoyed country music, but Walt also had an interest in rock and roll and played in a band in the early 1960's. He then came full circle and combined the music of his childhood and his love for bluegress; playing in various bluegrass bands through the years. You can currently catch him playing guitar and singing with his band Old Time Way. When he is not playing music, he is taking care of his role as president of the Seven Mountains Bluegrass Association. As a guitar instructor, he likes to combine the teaching of chord positions, transitions, runs, riffs, timing and band coordination. Walt's love of singing a song led him to teach lead tenor and baritone harmony. |
